Himachal Police will teach police officers of Haryana and Punjab how to investigate NDPS cases. While hearing the NDPS case, saying that the method of investigation in Himachal is much better, the Punjab-Haryana High Court has ordered to send the police officers of both the states to the Police Training Center located in Dharamshala, Himachal for training.
Bhupendra Singh, who was convicted by the Charkhi Dadri court in the NDPS case, had filed a petition in the High Court challenging the sentence. The High Court found that there were lapses by the investigating officer at various levels. In such a situation, the High Court took cognizance of this matter.
The High Court said that investigation is done in a better way in Himachal Pradesh than in Haryana and Punjab. In such a situation, it has become necessary that better training be given to the police officers of both the states so that the method of investigation can be improved. The High Court has now ordered the DGPs of both the states to prepare a batch of officers within 15 days and send them to the Daroh Police Training Center in Dharamshala. The training of these officers there should be completed in three months.
Following the order, the High Court has ordered the DGP of Haryana and Punjab and the Principal of Police Training Center Daroh to file an affidavit. The High Court also made it clear that the expenses of this training will have to be borne by the Haryana and Punjab governments. The High Court has ordered both the states to deposit this amount with the Home Secretary of Himachal.
